How our fishing forecast works
The inputs, the weighting and an honest look at the evidence.
Inputs
- Solunar periods — computed from the moon's position at the water's coordinates.
- Sunrise & sunset — low-light windows.
- Pressure trend — NWS observations and forecast; stable or slowly falling scores highest.
- Wind — moderate wind scores well; strong wind lowers safety and score.
- Water temperature — only when a sensor is on the same water.
How much should you trust it?
The evidence that fish follow solunar periods is mixed. Pressure and temperature effects are better supported but vary by species. We show every input so you can judge — the score is a planning aid, not a promise.
Validation
We compare scores against angler reports each season and publish the results.
