How to tie a double uni knot

The most reliable everyday connection for joining braided mainline to a fluorocarbon or monofilament leader.

Step 1 of 4
  1. Overlap the tag ends of your mainline and leader by 6 to 8 inches in opposite directions.
  2. Form a loop with the mainline over both strands, then wrap the tag end 5 to 7 times through the loop and snug gently.
  3. Repeat the process on the leader side, forming a loop with the leader and wrapping 4 to 5 times through.
  4. Moisten both knots thoroughly and pull the standing lines in opposite directions until the two knots slide together and jam flush.
