How this tool works

We compute the moon's position for each day at your coordinates, in your local time zone with daylight saving. Majors are centred on the moon's upper and lower transit; minors on moonrise and moonset. Days score higher near new and full moon and when a period overlaps sunrise or sunset (after John Alden Knight's 1926 solunar theory). The science is debated, so use it alongside weather and water conditions.

FAQ

What are solunar tables?

Predicted daily feeding windows based on the moon's position: two major periods (about 2 hours) and two minor periods (about 1 hour).

Are solunar tables accurate?

They are accurate astronomically; whether fish follow them is debated. Many anglers find them useful as one planning input.
